by: Joanna Philbin (the daughters book 2)
304 pages
Summary: Following the cliff hanger of the previous book, Carina is whisked off to California where her father has enrolled her in a private school. Thanks to Lizzie and Hudson, Carina is able to resume her life in New York. But then Carina and "The Jurg,"get into a fight, which ends up in him taking away her credit cards, cash, and car service. She gets $20 a week, and a Metro Card.
Carina doesn't believe that she's as spoiled as her dad thinks, but she really wants to go on a skiing trip with her cute neighbor. She decides to get a job to pay for the vacation. With no previous experience, Carina has no luck. She soon finds herself bluffing her way into a job as a party planner for queen bee Ava Elting’s Silver Snowflake Ball, she does so by promising to use her father's connections-connections she can't use if she's going to prove to her father that she can make it on her own. Carina must find a way to meet Ava's high expectations without letting her secret slip. Will she be able to do it, or is it California here Carina comes?
My Reaction: I personally have liked Carina the best ever since book 1, so i really liked this book. I like Carina's character because she's a dare devil, and in this situation she'll have to be. There are tons of twists and turns, and things you wouldn't expect. It is a little far fetched at some points, but its still a really good book. This book (like book 1) ends on a cliff hanger, and will have you begging to read the next daughters book, The Daughter's Take the Stage (coming soon).
My Rating: 9/10

I remembered the times a very few years ago, when I read books like these! For teens, so interesting and engaging. Great review :)
